Brows Pre/Post Care

What To Expect With Your Brows

  • You should NOT expect your brow tattoos to heal perfectly after the first session.
  • There are two steps in this process, and sometimes there are several steps.
  • In the days following your procedure (also days 2-5), your eyebrows will appear darker, solid, and painted on. Also known as the “What do I do? On the brows, there may be harsh edges and different shapes, for example, one may appear longer, higher, or with more strokes than the other. It’s normal for the skin to swell and the eyebrows to become more prominent after and during the healing process. Redness may also accompany them. This is because the skin is inflamed and scratched.
  • Furthermore, our pigment is pre-modified so that it does not heal ashy in the skin. They will disappear once they have healed under the skin.

  • When the small irritations under the skin have healed, they won’t be noticeable, and all of the edges will become softer. Until your touchup, no changes or additions can be made, nothing can be changed or added. During the healing process, call us unless it is an emergency and we will be glad to assist you.
  • During days 4-5, you may experience flaking and your eyebrows will appear dry. Avoid picking at your flakes; allow them to fall off naturally.

  • Some clients’ skin may have a harder time retaining pigment and may require additional sessions.

Brows: After Care

THE DAY OF TREATMENT: Immediately after the procedure, Gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid (if any). Removing this fluid prevents the hardening of the lymph.

  • WEEK 1: DAYS 1 THROUGH 7
  • Cleanse and Moisturize! We will provide you with both products.
  • Wash daily to remove bacteria and dead skin. (Don’t worry… THIS DOES NOT REMOVE PIGMENT)
  • Gently wash your eyebrows each morning and night with water and an antibacterial soap like Dial or Cetaphil. With a very light touch, use your finger to gently cleanse the eyebrows. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. Very important to dry the brows! DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliants.
  • Apply a rice grain amount of Aquaphor with a Q-Tip or clean finger and spread it across the treated area – Apply 3-6 times daily! Start at 3, if it feels dry, patchy, and itchy – up to 6 times. Be sure not to over-apply as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. Never put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo. If your brows are dry and itchy, this means you are not moisturizing enough.
  • WEEK 2: DAYS 7 THROUGH 14
  • Moisturize Three to Six times Daily, using Aquaphor.

 IMPORTANT NOTE FOR BROW AFTERCARE:

  • Use a fresh pillowcase
  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away.  Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.
  • NO facials, botox, chemical treatments, or microdermabrasion for 2-4 weeks
  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week
  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 2 weeks after procedure
  • Wear a hat when outdoors
  • Avoid heavy sweating and long, hot showers for the first 10 days
  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days
  • Avoid swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first ten days
  • Avoid topical makeup, including sunscreen on the area
  • DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area

ABOUT SHOWERING

Limit your showers to 5 minutes so you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure out of the water while you wash your body, then at the end of shower, wash your hair. Your face should only be getting wet at the very last end of the shower. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.

Remember, with the proper prep and aftercare routine you will have much better results with your microblading procedure. I have received aftercare instructions and will follow the instructions.
